Everyone has more than likely heard the name Charles Manson at least once in their lives, as the man was one of the most notorious serial killers and cult leaders of all time. Before his passing in November of 2017, he was serving life in prison for the conspiracizing and killing of at least seven people. He was born right here in Cincinnati, Ohio and before his life of crime and killing he was actually a singer and songwriter. He started the cult known as the ‘Manson Family’ believing in and wanting to start mass race wars in the United States, and was responsible for multiple killings in a few short years. This would be the case until the late 60’s where he would be convicted for his crimes and be originally sentenced to death, but would end up being sentenced to spend life in maximum security prisons and protective housing units in California.

Places to visit in Cincinnati

If you are at home and are always bored with nothing to do but you live in the Cincinnati area you can go out and do all sorts of things.

For example, you can go to the Cincinnati Art Museum. It features an unparalleled art collection of more than 67,000 artworks in the time span of 6,000 years. In addition to displaying its own broad collection, the art museum also host several national and international traveling exhibitions each year. They have recently opened Rosenthal Education Center offers an immersive, hands on experiment for families. It’s a place for for the whole family to come to and have a great time.

Another place would be Newport on the Levee. It is a multi level urban retail entertainment center located on the south bank of the Ohio River in Newport, Kentucky directly across from downtown Cincinnati. You can sit back and enjoy all the entertainment and new experiences. You can go to the arcade at Gameworks, you can go to the one of the best dining venues, you could go bowling at Axis Alley, the aquarium, or watch the beautiful sunset over the Cincinnati Skyline. All this and more are all at Newport and the Levee. Bring you family, bring your friends, bring your significant other and just have a night out.

If you are into history you might be interested in the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center. It is perched on the north bank of the Ohio River. It celebrates freedom’s heroes, from the era of the Underground Railroad to contemporary times, complete with inspiring stories and hands on activities. Even though the exhibits and programming, the Freedom Center offers and educational and inspiring experience for children and adults alike. It is open Tuesday through Sunday from 11am to 5pm.

The Creation museum is full of fun for the whole family. It is designed by a former Universal Studios exhibit director. The Creation Museum presents a walk through biblical history in a state of the art 75,000 square foot museum. You can do a museum walk through, special effects theatre, Botanical gardens and petting zoo, all of which is included in the admission.

Another place to visit if you like history, is the The Ark. The Ark encounter is a full sized reconstruction of Noah’s Ark. Stretching more than 1.5 football fields in length and higher than four story house. You will be shocked at how large it is. You can also visit the petting zoo, experience the themed restaurant and shop in the gift shop, it’s a family fun event.

Does technology make us more alone?

Technology is used by individuals as well as businesses everyday to make us more connected to things going on around us and also to make our access to everyday things, much easier. However, some people think technology really makes us more alone. Are our useful cell phones, computers, etc. actually distancing us from everything and getting in the way of socialization? Although technology plays an important part in our lives, it does have its pros and cons.

Nintindo Switch, Nintindo’s Biggest Success Since the Wii?

Nintendo is notable for their many achievements as a franchise, whether it be one of their many successful series like The Legend Of Zelda, Mario, and Pokemon, or their game consoles, the Japanese brand is a household name.

The brand made their first big hit with the NES 1985, and then in 1989 they revolutionized portable play with the Game Boy that sold nearly 120 units, then continuing on with the Super Nintendo, Nintendo 64, Gamecube, and even returning back to make adjustments with the Game Boy Advance and Gameboy Color. Nintendo kept up against competitors like XBox and Playstation, and their sales never dropped, especially with the release of the DS in 2004 and Wii in 2006. Since those releases the 3DS, as well as the Wii U have made their way into millions of households, but now there is a new addition to the Nintendo family

Beyonce and Jay-Z Announce World Tour

Start saving your money now because Beyonce and Jay Z have just announced their upcoming tour, ‘On The Run Ⅱ’. The tour will kick off on June 6th, in Cardiff, UK. The worldwide stadium tour will feature 15 european tour dates, with 21 American shows.

This will be the couples second tour, following their 2014 ‘On The Run’ tour. Citi is the tour’s official mastercard, so card holders will have pre-sale access to tickets from March 14 to March 17. Regular tickets will be available on March 19.

Clash of Classes

West Clermont is hosting it’s first ever Clash of the Classes on Friday, March 9th. The event will take place in WCHS’s auxiliary gym from 5-8 p.m.

Admission for participants sign-ups and and practice begin at 4:30, admission for spectators will begin at 4:45. At 5:00 class photos will be taken and the class money will be donated to food pantries.

Games begin at 5:15 and the award presentation and photos will begin 7:45. 

Admission is $2 per participant or spectator. All admission fees are donated to local food pantries.

Along with Clash of the Classes, spirit week is taking place this week, March 5-9. Monday’s theme was monochromatic Monday, dress in all one color, head to toe. Tuesday’s was wear your favorite sports team; school, college, or pro. For Wednesday dress in your appropriate Hawaiian attire. Thursday’s theme is pajama day and to wrap up spirit week dress in your class color on Friday. Seniors in navy, juniors in black, sophomores in white, and freshman in grey.

Catholic Church Concerned about Michigan Child Abuse Bill

The conviction of Larry Nassar, the former USA Gymnastics national team doctor who is set to spend the next 40 to 125 years of his life in prison for decades of sexual abuse, prompted Michigan lawmakers to propose a bill that would retroactively extend the amount of time child victims of sexual abuse have to sue their abusers. The bill, which passed into law on February 20th, is concerning to the Catholic Church, who have shelled out billions of dollars to settle U.S. clergy abuse cases with the victims.
