If the Playoffs Started Today

The NBA playoffs start On April 14, this date may already be set in many of the top eight teams in both conferences. But, in both the Western Conference the standings are so close, that standings 4-9 are just one game apart from each other. With that in mind, if playoffs started today, these are the match ups that we would see.

Eastern Conference

The eastern conference standings are fairly set for this years playoffs. The standing of the top eight teams may change but for now here is who will play each other.

The first game would be the number 1 seed, Toronto Raptors, facing against the 8 seed, Washington Wizards. Over the regular season, The Toronto Raptors won 2 out of the four games that they played. This series on paper should be good, but I believe that the Toronto Raptors will run away with this by winning the series 4-2.

The second game for the Eastern conference will be the 2 seed, Boston Celtics, facing off against the 7 seed, Miami Heat. Boston started the season off very well even after losing Gordon Hayward in the first game of the season. But after losing their star point guard, many believe that they wont be able to make a far run in the playoffs.

The third game of the first round in the Eastern Conference is the 3 seed, Philadelphia Seventy-Sixers, versus the six seed, Milwaukee Bucks. With the Sixers being the hottest team in the NBA right now will definitely be hard to beat in the playoffs. The young roster has many rising stars that have the ability to take over a game. The “Greek Freak”, Giannas Antetokounmpo, will have his hands full in the first round.

The final game in the Eastern Conference will have the 4 seed, Cleveland Cavaliers, against the 5 seed, Indiana Pacers. With Lebron James being as dominant as ever, he will definitely be a hand full for the entire Pacers team. Lebron is arguably one of the most dominant NBA players in the playoffs and will likely lead the Cavaliers to 4-0 series win.

Western Conference

The Western Conference is arguably way more competitive than the Eastern Conference in the NBA. Only three teams so far are guaranteed to have a spot in this years playoffs so far. With the standings as of today, these are the teams who would play each other today.

The first game in the Western Conference would be the number 1 seed, Houston Rockets, facing the 8 seed, Minnesota Timberwolves. This series should be a breeze for the Rockets, but as we have seen in the past upsets occur. With that in mind, we can take a cautios step to say that the series would likely end with the Houston Rockets winning the series 4-2.

The second game played in the Western Conference will be the 2 seed, Golden State Warriors, versus Oklahoma City Thunder. With the two teams being rivals, we can see this series being very good. The Warriors are a heavy favorite to win this game, but with a player like Russel Westbrook, the Thunder could take the series. I predict that this series will be 4-2 in favor of the Golden State Warriors.

The third game that will be played in the first round of the Western Conference will be the 3 seed, Utah Jazz, against the 6 seed, San Antonio Spurs. The Utah Jazz has had a great second half of the season led by the rookie of the year candidate, Donovan Mitchell. With that being said, I predict that the Utah Jazz will win this series 4-3.

The final game in the first round of the playoffs will be the 4 seed, Portland Trailblazers, facing against the 5 seed, New Orleans Pelicans. With both teams having great years, we will be in for a great series. In this series I can see the New Orleans’ Anthony Davis leading the Pelicans to a 4-3 series win.
