Excitement regarding Disney’s new live action movie has reached new heights as the trailer for the newest installment of ‘The Lion King’ was released. Only 100 days out from the official theater release on July 19th, fans are anxious to see one of their favorite childhood movies brought to life. Based on the trailer, it seems that the remake is a shot-for-shot recreation of the original 1994 classic.
Starring Donald Glover as Simba, James Earl Jones as Mufasa, Chiwetel Ejiofor as Scar, Seth Rogen as Pumba, and Beyonce as Nala, fans are excited to hear the new cast as the voice of their favorite wildlife characters. The trailer features realistic footage of the African savannah filled with giraffes, antelopes, and zebras. Beginning with a young Simba, the voice of Scar begins giving the cub some advice. “Life’s not fair is it, my little friend? While some are born to feast, others spend their lives in the dark, begging for scraps.” Fans also get to hear Mufasa’s voice, hinting at one of the most iconic lines of the movie while speaking wisdom to Simba. “You must take your place in the circle of life.”
The trailer shows promise to iconic musical numbers as well as the same heartbreaking scenes present in the original. The only noticeable difference in this remake is the live action aspect, beautiful cinematography of Africa and realistic animals. Fans are excited to see their favorite movie brought back to life.
