Timmothy Pitzen

On May 11, 2011 Timmothy Pitzen was dropped off at school by his father for his kindergarten class as Greenman Elementary School. His mother checked him out of class in the morning saying there was a non-existent family emergency. They were missing for a span of 3 days and the last they knew Timmothy was with his mother was between 12:00 pm and 1:30 pm on May 13 in the background of phone calls. She checked into the Rockford Inn where she was found the next morning and she had taken her own life. There was a note left apologizing for the mess she had created along with an explanation that Timmothy would never be found, but he was safe with people who would care for him. During the investigation, there was a concerning amount of blood found in her car that belonged to her son Timmothy. The father, James Pitzen, has stated that he believes his son is still alive.

On April 3, 2019 residents in Newport Kentucky called police reporting that a teenager had ran across the bridge over the Ohio River and then was wandering around the streets. When police found the distraught boy, he had told them that he was Timmothy Pitzen.

The next day, DNA results revealed that the young man was actually 23 year old Brian Rini. The 23 year old is an ex-con who was recently released from prison after serving time for stealing and burglary. He had previously tried to pass himself off as a sex trafficking victim. Rini said he adopted Timmothy’s identity after learning about his case on ABC’s 20/20. He was charged with making false statements to a federal agent and could face up to 8 years in prison.
