The latest controversy in the National Football League is the banning of Thursday night games. Seattle Seahawks cornerback, Richard Sherman even went as far as writing a story called “Why I Hate Thursday Night Football”. He called it a “poopfest” and explained how they do not give the players enough time to recuperate from their games just four days earlier. However, he was not alone with his opinion. Many players, coaches, and even fans have been trying to ditch Thursday night football for many reasons. Here are some of the following reasons; player safety, quality of the games and over saturation. They believe Thursday night games should only be played on Thanksgiving.

The West Clermont Wolves got their first loss in 3 weeks against Mason High School in the first round of the play-offs. The Comets defeated the Wolves 26-0 at Mason High School last Friday, November 3rd. West Clermont had difficulty getting on the board after putting up 35 points against Milford in the previous week. However, the team was not expected to win and are 42 ranks behind in the state but this loss was nowhere near easy. That game made Mason’s fourth consecutive shutout and they will advance to the Division I Regional Semifinals, playing Colerain High School.

It was a sad weekend for both the West Clermont football team, and their fans. After losing Friday night to the Anderson Redskins, 34-42, the Junior Varsity team played Saturday morning and were not able to pull out a win either, losing just 30-48. West Clermont was tied for first place with Anderson and winning the game would’ve knocked the Redskins down to second place. The Wolves were down 27-6 at halftime, but fans never lost hope. “I thought we didn’t give our best in the first half and there needed to be adjustments. They came out at half like a new team and played much better overall. You could see the excitement in everyone when we made a comeback. We had their backs the entire game. We never gave up on our boys” states West Clermont fan, Jules Miller.

The West Clermont lady Wolves pulled out a tough win on Saturday, September 23 beating the Fairfield Indians 2-1 putting them at 6-3-2. As Fairfield is in first place in their league, the Greater Miami Conference, they were expected to beat West Clermont. “It was a very intense game and they outplayed us in the first half but we came out strong in the second half.” stated Kendall Simpson, a defender for the Wolves. Simpson played a prominent role in not letting the opponent score goals.
